The preferred option for the Coffs Harbour Highway Planning Strategy was announced in December 2004. The Coffs Harbour Highway Planning Strategy includes a northern section (the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade) and a southern section (Coffs Harbour Highway Planning).
For the Coffs Harbour section, the RTA is working closely with Coffs Harbour City Council to ensure the required land is reserved for the future construction of the preferred option. This website provides information on the southern Coffs Harbour section and the planning strategy as a whole.
For more information on the northern section of the strategy, please visit the Sapphire to Woolgoolga project website.
The Coffs Harbour Highway Planning Strategy, which commenced preparation in September 2001, has been in development for over five years. During this time, a range of corridor and route options have been evaluated with participation from the local community. Technical reports, summary reports and community involvement reports have been prepared during the various stages of this strategy and electronic and paper copies of these are available for review.
The Preferred Option Report and Community update No 6 provide details on the preferred highway route, and ways in which the public can be involved. Preparation of the strategy has been funded by the NSW State Government under its $1.6 billion commitment to the 10-year Pacific Highway Upgrade Program.
Following the announcement of the preferred route in 2004, further survey and geotechnical work is being undertaken to assist in better defining the boundaries of the road corridor for the preferred route in the Coffs Harbour area. For further information on these investigations, download the pdf of the community flyer, November 2006 on the Project information section of this website.
