Field investigations

Field investigations commenced at the early stages of the Iluka Road to Woodburn project. These investigations have been used to address key factors of the route development such as:

  • What are the constraints and opportunities associated with the study area?
  • What effect would the concept design have on the environment and community?

The results of these studies can be found in the Preferred Concept Design Report and associated working papers. Further field investigations will be required at enviromental assessment stage and be used to refine the preferred concept design and assess the potential environmental impacts of the project.

Investigations have included:

  • Road safety
  • Traffic and transport
  • Topography, geology and soil
  • Land use
  • Social and community impacts
  • Noise and vibration
  • Ecology
  • Water and air quality
  • Economic
