Aurecon expanded its existing work in international development by acquiring IDSS in 2005.

IDSS is a project management, training and consulting company operating in the field of international development. With access to more than 3,000 consultants and 40 staff IDSS has been providing high quality services to clients for 25 years.

IDSS' approach can be defined as social entrepreneurship. We bring communities, donors, commercial partners and NGOs together to build communities' self reliance.

Our aim is to create opportunities for people to achieve sustainable livelihoods, a sustainable environment, and positive health and education outcomes. IDSS offers projects and stakeholders exceptional access to consultants across all sectors of industry, including health and HIV/AIDS, education, gender, community development, water sanitation and governance.

IDSS was established in 1983 and incorporated in 1986. For 25 years, IDSS has successfully implemented over 200 projects in 46 countries and has delivered a range of project management, consultancy and training services in aid and development across all major sectors and regions of the world.

In addition to its consulting, project implementation and management activities, IDSS delivers an established Professional Development Program through which hundreds of development professionals have received training in areas of development such as monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, community development and approaches to participatory planning.
