Quality assurance
Aurecon's Operations System was developed to help us meet the needs of our clients. This is achieved by using a system that is simple and flexible enough to adapt to all of our projects, large or small. The adoption of a common system across all of our offices ensures a consistent approach throughout our company. The Operations System applies to all Aurecon activities from feasibility and planning phases right through to the design and construction phases of a project, as well as other services including survey and project management.
Our system is certified to the international quality standard ISO 9001 "Quality Management Systems Requirements". Aurecon has had ISO 9001 certification since June 1993. Our third party certifiers in Australia and Indonesia, are SAI Global, in New Zealand and Thailand are Bureau Veritas and in Singapore are Certification International.
Our Operations System also covers the management of the environmental impacts of our office operations and the delivery of our professional services. In March 2005 we achieved third party certification for an ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management System (EMS) for our NSW and ACT operations. The EMS is being progressively rolled out across the company with a target implementation date of September 2009.
Aurecon's Operations System is structured in the following way:
- The Operations System Overview presents our quality policy statement, the operations system structure and scope, and company organisation and responsibilities
- There are three procedures that cover Aurecon's operations, which may be regarded as the rules under which Aurecon operates
- The procedures are supported by manuals and guides that describe how we should best operate
It is Aurecon's policy that clients may inspect our Operations System documentation within our offices and that an uncontrolled copy of our Operations System Overview document will be issued to clients on request.
The responsibility for the successful implementation of the Aurecon Operations System rests with all our personnel. Projects are typically managed by a Project Leader and Project Principal. The Project Principal takes responsibility for the quality of the overall project and the Project Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day service of the project. This typical project organisation provides our clients and internal project team members with direct access to our key decision makers.
We ensure that our system is implemented effectively through an ongoing training programme for all professional, technical and administrative personnel. Internal audits, conducted by our trained internal auditors, are used to monitor, maintain and improve our systems.
