Parkes Radio Telescope Upgrade, Australia
The radio telescope at Parkes in western NSW has been a world-class instrument since the early 1960s, most notable for its key role in the Apollo 11 moon landing.
Our involvement with the telescope began in 1995, working with CSIRO's Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) to produce a concept for upgrading its frequency agility.
This led to our further commission to provide a final design for the tender and construction of a new cabin and translator machine, including specifications for the machine's electrical and operating requirements.
